Effectiveness of Health Education Programmes in Enhancing Quality of Life

Abstract

Health education programmes play a vital role in promoting health literacy, encouraging positive behavioural changes, and improving overall quality of life. The present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of health education programmes in enhancing physical, psychological, social, and environmental well-being. A theoretical and narrative review approach was adopted using secondary data collected from peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and reports published between 2012 and 2024. Relevant literature was retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. The findings indicate that health education interventions significantly improve health literacy, self-efficacy, treatment adherence, disease management, and healthy lifestyle practices. Interactive and digitally supported programmes were found to be particularly effective in achieving sustainable health outcomes. The study concludes that health education programmes are cost-effective strategies for enhancing quality of life and should be integrated into public health policies and practices.
