Assessment of Aggressive Behavior among Male National Volleyball, Football and Handball Players

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to assess and compare aggressive behavior among male national-level Volleyball, Football, and Handball players. A total of ninety-six (N=96) male national-level players participated in the study, including Volleyball (N=32), Football (N=32), and Handball (N=32) players aged between 18 and 25 years. Aggressive behavior was assessed using Smith’s Aggression Scale. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Least Significant Difference (LSD) post-hoc test. The level of significance was set at 0.05. The results indicated a significant difference in aggressive behavior among the selected groups. Handball players recorded the highest mean score of aggressive behavior (36.48±1.52), followed by Football players (35.71±1.68), whereas Volleyball players demonstrated the lowest aggressive behavior score (33.92±1.45). The findings suggest that the nature of the sport and the level of physical contact influence aggressive behavior among athletes. It was concluded that national-level Handball players possess higher aggressive behavior compared to Volleyball and Football players.
