Abstract
Nutrition plays a crucial role in optimizing athletic performance, enhancing recovery, and maintaining overall health. Among student athletes, nutrition practices followed before and after competition significantly influence energy availability, performance efficiency, and physiological recovery. The present study investigates pre- and post-competition nutrition practices of college-going student athletes aged 17–21 years, including both male and female participants from various sports disciplines. A descriptive survey method was employed using structured questionnaires and 24-hour dietary recall techniques. The study examined meal timing, macronutrient intake, hydration strategies, and recovery practices.Statistical analysis was conducted using descriptive and inferential techniques to examine gender-based and sport-specific differences. The findings reveal substantial gaps between recommended sports nutrition guidelines and actual practices, particularly in post-competition recovery nutrition. The study emphasizes the need for structured nutrition education programs and professional guidance at the collegiate level..
