Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate and compare the effects of Surya Namaskar practiced in the morning and evening on
selected physical fitness parameters among school students. A total of 40 male students (aged 16–20 years) were randomly
assigned to two groups: morning practice (Group A) and evening practice (Group B). Both groups performed 12 rounds of
Surya Namaskar, five days a week, for eight weeks. Pre- and post-test assessments were conducted for flexibility, muscular
strength, balance, and cardiovascular endurance using standard tests. Statistical analysis showed significant improvements in
all parameters for both groups. The morning group demonstrated greater gains in flexibility and cardiovascular endurance,
whereas the evening group showed greater improvements in muscular strength. Balance improved similarly in both groups.
These findings suggest that while Surya Namaskar is effective at any time of day, the timing of practice can selectively enhance
specific aspects of physical fitness, allowing training programs to be tailored to desired outcomes.
