Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to compare the motor ability levels of football and hockey players in Chhattisgarh using the Barrow Motor Ability Test (BMAT). Motor ability plays a crucial role in determining athletic performance, especially in field sports such as football and hockey. A total of 60 male players (30 football and 30 hockey) aged between 16 and 25 years were selected from various sports academies and colleges of Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. The BMAT, consisting of standardized sub-tests measuring speed, agility, power, strength, and coordination, was administered to all participants. Descriptive statistics and independent t-tests were used to analyze the data. The findings revealed significant differences in selected motor ability components between football and hockey players. The results of the study may be useful for coaches, trainers, and sports administrators in designing sport-specific training programs.
