Abstract
Reaction time is a critical determinant of performance in volleyball, influencing players’ ability to respond to fast-moving
balls. This study aimed to compare the reaction time of Libero and Outside Hitter players using the Ruler Drop Test. A total of
20 male volleyball players (10 Liberos, 10 Outside Hitters) from M.T.I.C, Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, participated in the study.
Reaction times were measured using the Ruler Drop Test, and data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and
independent t-test for significance. Results indicated that Liberos demonstrated faster reaction times (M = 0.21 s, SD = 0.03)
compared to Outside Hitters (M = 0.25 s, SD = 0.04), and the difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). These findings
suggest positional specialization in volleyball may influence reaction time capabilities, emphasizing the importance of tailored
training programs.
