A Study on Correlation between Vital capacity and Perceived Stress of Females

Abstract
This study aimed to find the correlation between vital capacity and perceived stress of females. 80 College female
students of age ranged between 17 to 24 were selected for the study. Variables under investigation were stress and vital capacity
for the study. To measure stress level, online Perceived Stress Scale test used and Spirometer was used to measure vital capacity.
Mean and Standard deviation were used to describe the selected variables and Pearson correlation coefficient (depending on
data distribution) was used to investigate the association between vital capacity and stress levels. Results and conclusions: Mean
and Standard deviation of 80 females for vital capacity and perceived stress fat were 2390.81±312.377 and 29.225±6.37
respectively. Pearson correlation coefficient value of (r) between Stress ad vital capacity was-.865** at 0.05 level of significance. The results revealed that significance association and highly negative correlation were found between vital capacity and stress levels of females. It was concluded that high perceived stress level in females can lead to lower level of vital capacity or higher level of vital capacity in females can lower perceived stress level.
Key words: Perceived stress, vital capacity, Pearson correlation etc.
