Abstract
University students often experience high levels of stress due to academic and personal responsibilities, which can negatively impact cognitive function. This study investigates the effects of an 8-week mindful yoga program on stress reduction and cognitive performance in university students. A total of 60 participants were randomly assigned to either a mindful yoga group (n = 30) or a control group (n = 30). Stress levels were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), while cognitive function was assessed through the Digit Span Task (memory) and the Stroop Test (attention). Results indicated that students in the mindful yoga group experienced a significant reduction in stress scores (M = 14.2, SD = 3.1) compared to the control group (M = 19.8, SD = 4.2, p < 0.001). Additionally, memory and attention scores improved significantly in the mindful yoga group (p < 0.01). These findings support the efficacy of mindful yoga in reducing stress and enhancing cognitive function in university students. Future research should explore long-term effects and neurophysiological correlates of mindfulness-based interventions.
